Exciting Screen NSW Crew Development Program

There is strong demand for skilled crew across NSW, if you’ve ever thought about working behind the scenes in film and television, this program is worth a look.

As part of a broader effort to build a more sustainable and inclusive screen industry, The Screen NSW Crew Development Program is addressing the lack of representation and skilled-crew shortage by fast tracking entry-level and mid-career ‘below the line’ practitioners with department-specific training delivered by program partners Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), TAFE NSW, and The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).

This opportunity is open and competitive

Don’t let the word competitive get in your way. As you will find on the very top of the program’s page on Screen NSW:

This program offers intensive training and paid production placements (with mentorship) for NSW entry-level and mid-career crew from underrepresented backgrounds.

Participants will build practical, on-set experience and make those vital industry connections as they move through a combination of training, paid placements, and mentorship across the 6 departments Screen NSW has identified most in need of skilled crew including:

  • Production and location

  • Production management and post-production

  • Costume and art departments

The opportunities offered here are difficult to reach even within metropolitan areas.
