Daydream
Artwork by Linda Chant that was part of her HomeGround exhibition "Daydream" 28 February – 14 June 2026“I want the viewer to feel the sensory place the daydream can be”
Daydream was made in responce to the view from a particular window in my home. Watching the changing ay through the window, from the quiet interior of home to the endless world outside, the window formed a tender exist to anywhere, to anyone.
From the Artist Statement
There’s a softness to Linda Chant’s HomeGround exhibition, Daydream, that you feel almost immediately.
Created by Cowra-based artist Linda Chant, Daydream draws you into that in-between space — somewhere between memory and imagination, where images feel familiar but not fixed. There’s a quiet confidence to it. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is over-explained.
It’s immersive like a daydream, it holds you, slows you down. If you sit with the work rather than move past it, your time stretches a little.
This exhibition sits within the HomeGround program, delivered by the Western Plains Cultural Centre. It’s a program that gives artists the time, space, and curatorial support to develop a body of work and present it as a solo exhibition — and you can feel that investment here. There’s care in it. Time in it. A sense that the work has been allowed to unfold.
We are so proud at Orana Arts to stand alongside regional artists like Linda Chant and so many others as they develop their practice, and contribute to our cultural life.
The immersive Daydream by Linda Chant runs through to mid-June at the Western Plains Cultural Centre. If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s your invitation to step into a mildly familiar space where memory and imagination gently blur - and see another extraordinary regional artist.
