Our young performing artists need your help

Your donation will support the next stage of creative development and get the Kumi Taiko drummers (supported by Taikoz)/ Dubbo Ballet Studio production, ‘Core’, on stage in Sydney. A recent preview of this performance was held for family and friends in Dubbo. Dubbo Ballet Studio is highly respected for its well-crafted, spectacular productions.

For Coonabarabran High School’s students, your support will provide ongoing access to tutors from the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) to continue their learning, developing their storytelling skills, and dreams. Funds raised will be evenly split between each project.

This fundraiser is being run through the Australian Cultural Fund. All donations over A$2 are tax-deductible. All funds raised will be available to directly assist the drama and taiko programs within Not a Dress Rehearsal.

2022 MARRUGEKU WORKSHOPS + PRESENTATIONS

Orana Arts recently offered a unique opportunity to explore modern dance, story-telling, collaboration and inter-cultural connection with Marrugeku, Australia’s leading Indigenous and intercultural dance theatre company. Led by co-artistic directors: choreographer/dancer Dalisa Pigram and director/dramaturg Rachael Swain, Marrugeku has 27 years experience in productions and research laboratories, as well as introducing audiences to the unique and potent structures of Indigenous knowledge systems and the compelling experience of intercultural performance. Marrugeku’s performers come from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, collaborating to co-create each production.

Marrugeku and Orana Arts partnered to bring Marrugeku’s unique dance vision to the Central West of NSW, introducing participants to the way Marrugeku uses improvisational movement processes to generate theatre and exchange stories and experiences. We hope to work with them again soon!

We have two program areas thanks to our delivery partnerships with the incredible Australian Theatre for Young People (Theatre) - who do far more than just things on the stage; and Taiko, or Japanese drumming with international Taiko masters, Taikoz. Our Taiko ensemble even won their first ever public performance at the Dubbo Eisteddfod in 2021, and it’s only going to get better. Click on the button above to download the 2020/21 Not a Dress Rehearsal Report Card with more of what we did over the past year.

Enjoy some of the highlights of our 2021 programming in this video. It was a year that offered 30+ young people from across NSW the opportunity to work with professionals in the performing arts on gaining skills in percussion, industry insights, ideation, devising, scriptwriting, directing and more. Watch this space for more in 2022. In the meantime, register for the year ahead by clicking the button below the video.

We help performing arts dreams come true.

Our performing arts program for regional youth, Not a Dress Rehearsal, is delivered with leading arts organisations, Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) and Taikoz, with mentoring, support, and opportunities to learn from those in the business.

Hear from those in the performing arts who started out in Regional NSW — just like you! Tyrolin Puxty has been one of our NaDR mentors and Masterclass tutors, Charlie Bartley is dancing and choregraphing dance on international stages but drops in from time to time to say g’day, Georgie Saunders is now studying film in Queensland, Dani Andrews, who drove the program in its first year is now working in the performing arts sector in Queensland, and Josie Stanger-Jones studied at WAAPA. This could be you!
