An Orana Arts Studio Co!Lab project in partnership with Atelier Rosal

In a turbulent world, it's more important than ever that voices in the arts are heard. This project provides an opportunity for our artists from across Regional New South Wales, Australia, to present their work internationally, and invite artists in New Jersey, USA to present, perform or respond to their work, creating potential for collaborations and expanding networks. The US artists we are connecting with are like artists anywhere—simply trying to find their place in a rapidly changing world. Unboxed: Beyond Borders hopes to broaden the horizons of regional creatives and create allies within the arts. We’re excited to be working with artist, musician and gallerist, Nick Rosal of Atelier Rosal on this project.

  • Each of these experiences (opening and artist talks) gave me a sense of connection with people living and creating on the other side of the world. Even through Zoom, the conversation felt natural and familiar. It was a concrete reminder of how art—and the technology that connects us—can make the world feel a little smaller and help us better understand and appreciate different perspectives.

    Joe Brown

  • It was interesting to hear the Australian artists discuss their experience, art incentives and enthusiasm showing at Atelier Rosal. To listen to their dedication in working as a community of artists, connecting vast distances to have their works shown and heard, boggles the mind.

    Rodríguez Calero, visual artist

  • I loved the uniqueness of the 'Unboxed' event. It gave the artists an opportunity to have their work reach a wider audience. It gave an opportunity for countries to connect in the best way possible… through art.

    Big Mike Bertram, poet

  • It was a great night! I loved seeing the physical art as well as listening to the presentations & performances. Thank you guys so much for putting this together!

    Kim Martin, musician

  • Fabulous collaboration.

    Val Clark, writer

  • Amazing! Thank you so much - that will be a career highlight xx

    Lusi Austin, musician

  • It’s cool. Literal colabs and fusion is what creates new genres.

    Mick Davis, musician

  • We need to continue putting these concepts out there to encourage varied experiences and grow more audiences.
