Phillip endorses the statement made by Picasso in 1906:"Painting is a blind man's profession. He paints not what he sees but what he feels, what he tells himself about what he has seen". Phillip is a blind artist who has been painting for over 40 years. He creates landscapes and seascapes with paint. He paints by description or by having a scene photographed, enlarged, traced onto special plastic, which can be felt by one hand and painted with the other hand. My paints are normally labelled in Braille. He paints with acrylic paints and impasto. Phillip builds paintings up so they are tactile and can be felt and enjoyed by vision impaired people, (paid for by sighted). He is currently travelling Australia, painting, demonstrating and lecturing groups whenever possible. He is always after new techniques and ideas, and always imparting techniques and ideas.
