Helen undertakes Felting Workshops across the Mudgee region and also in Sydney. She encourages students to explore the possibilities of working with wool and other natural fibres whilst making either a wall hanging, cushion panels, shawls, scarves, baby blanket, anything flat! A piece can be made with a base of wool or an open weave fabric. Using a fabric such as cotton voile as the base she assists students in techniques such as 'Nuno felting'. Push the boundaries of a flat piece by enclosing, cutting, latticing, layering, and embellishing in order to give work its own uniqueness. Think about possible designs prior to the day. Helen's workshops cater to all levels, so if you are a beginner come along. The image is a work which was presented to East Timors First Lady along with a shawl I made for her. The workshop was in conjunction with the Blue Mountains City Council and the Katoomba Public School.
