The Coo-ee Heritage & Visitor Information Centre won the 2006 Most Outstanding Visitor Centre at the Inland NSW Tourism Awards and more recently was the NSW winner in 2009 ABC Regional Museums Award. It aims to entertain and educate by representing the cultures and lifestyles, past and present, of the people of the Gilgandra district. The Centre demonstrates themes of local, regional, state and national significance. The Centre houses three permanent exhibitions and a changing exhibition gallery. The Joy Trudgett Gallery exhibits �The Australian Collection� a unique collection of Aboriginal and natural history artefacts from QLD and Northern Territory. Collected by local couple Gwen and Snow Collison between 1964 and 1999 and later acquired by the Gilgandra Shire Council. The Coo-ee March Gallery depicts the journey of 35 men who left Gilgandra in 1915 to attract recruits for service in WW1. It includes artefacts of national significance including The Union Jack Flag carried by the marchers. The Allan Wise Gallery is devoted to the history of local families. Of significance is the Gilgandra and District WW2 service personnel service records. The Federation Gallery is a changing exhibition space that provides opportunity for artists to exhibit their work and hosts travelling exhibitions. Clean toilets, including disable toilet & baby change area, free bbq, picnic and parkland areas and plenty of parking for Buses, Caravans & trailors. A Level 1 Accredited Visitor Information Centre, the complex is owned and managed by Gilgandra Shire Council.
