The Beginning David Anderson, celebrity photographer (apparently) and his producer wife Rachel established their photo business in Sydney in 1990 on a whim and at the mercy of enthusiastic musicians wanting band photos in return for CD's and beer. It was the beginning of a frenetic and extremely interesting career path for both of them. Career Highlights to date On tour with Rolling Stones (in Johannesburg), Silverchair, The Screaming Jets, Mr John Farnham, working with Australian Idol every year up until and including 2009. Eventful Middle DAP has clinched events as an independent business such as Australian Music Awards, Rumba National Tour, M-One Eastern Seaboard, The Annual ARIA Awards (2000-2010), Urban Music Awards, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards (2004, 2006-2010), and the MTV Awards (2006) to name the big ones. Name Dropping Music is a high profile industry, and not surprisingly, David started working across music and corporate platforms, the earliest and one of the most successful being photography for Dairy Farmers and John Farnham as John promoted the product and the latest his involvement with Mastercard Debit series of music related promotions, including The Veronicas, Robbie Williams and Good Charlotte. This morphed in to many artists nominating David as their preferred photographer, a most welcome endorsement. The birth of the power portrait An introduction in to the corporate world resulted in David extending his talents to annual reports and asset photography, with a specific slant on capturing real people in their workplace and plant, machinery, equipment and property related to an industry. David's people skills are put to good use here, a portrait of a dairy farmer securing him in the 2007 National Photographic Portrait Prize short list, which was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. The following year, his portrait of Ricky Ponting was awarded the same status, cementing for David his desire to pursue the power portrait, regardless of whether the sitter was a musician, a film director, a CEO, a factory worker, a farmer, a miner or an OHS officer. The future David and Rachel and their three children undertook the challenge of a town change in late 2009 and now reside in the thriving, eclectic town of Mudgee, NSW. David divides his work life between substantial projects in Sydney and taking the work life balance to a new level exploring work opportunities in his local area and enjoying a change of pace with his family. The concept of photography is ever changing and 2011 is sure to be a year where the ground rules shift yet again, the goal for DAP always revolving around quality and professionalism and a great experience.
